Supporting Harrier2Life means joining a journey not only to revive a unique piece of British aviation history, but to educate into the future

Fundraising and Donations

Obviously a project of this magnitude is expensive, and we appreciate any financial support no matter how big or small. We will be organising a range of events once we have moved ZG509 to a more permanent home and the work has truly commenced, but even before then we will need to raise the funds for the move and the provision of a suitable shelter, or perhaps hangar rent. In due course we will announce the level of funding required - initial estimates are £8000 for the move and £35,000 for a shelter - and we will be creating a payment site to receive donations. That way you will be safe in the knowledge that your money will be going directly to the project as we begin the process of bringing ZG509 back to life.

FAQs

What is Harrier2Life?

Harrier2Life is a not for profit organisation intending to restore one of the last remaining 10 second generations UK Harrier GR7s to engine running and taxiing status.

How can I donate?

You can support us by donating directly through our secure payment site once we set it up - and there will be a big announcement of our first fundraising target and links to the site when we do so - or by purchasing some of our unique and exciting merchandise here when it becomes available.

Who benefits from this project?

Besides preserving a rare and extremely important piece of British aviation heritage for future generations, through our STEM programme we aim to provide unique engineering opportunities for schools, colleges and aviation apprentice schemes throughout the UK. And of course, we haven’t forgotten the huge adoration for the Harrier, so fans of the aircraft will be able to get up close and personal throughout the restoration project and beyond.

Can I volunteer to help?

Yes, we welcome volunteers with or without an engineering background or restoration skills to join our team. Also, the project is as reliant on ‘back room’ skills such as IT, administrative and financial just as much as what is happening in the hangar, so please get in touch if you would like to get involved elsewhere within the project.

Where is ZG509 located?

ZG509 currently resides at the owner’s house, but we are talking to a number of locations to establish where we will be able to operate under cover, out of the elements, but also where our supporters can visit in order to get a really close look at both the aircraft and the engineering taking place. We are extremely keen to involve our supporters from the onset, and we have a number of special events in mind that will enable this, so please follow us by getting in touch below, or by clicking on any of our social media links.
